History

After pastoring for over twenty years, God called John and Paula Sandford to a new ministry to write teach and counsel. In 1974, they founded Elijah House which is now based in Post Falls, Idaho. The Elijah House teaching principles stand firmly on the word of God and Elijah House has grown worldwide, successfully teaching, training and ministering to thousands each year, bringing restoration to broken lives and relationships.

Introduced to Australia in 1991 by Myra and Clif Wilkinson, it is now established throughout the country. John and Paula Sandford are authors and co-authors of more than a dozen books on marriage, family, restoration and related subjects.

Elijah House Australia was officially opened at Flaxton on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland on 4 April 1992.

The founders of Elijah House Australia, Clif and Myra Wilkinson, having been involved in healing ministry, and having studied the foundational text "Transformation of the Inner Man", first attended a seminar by John and Paula Sandford in the mid 1980s. The original teaching visits of the Sandfords were supported by the Emmanuel Convenant Community in Brisbane, Queensland.

Myra was particularly impressed by the teachings and, in September 1989, undertook a three-week training course with Elijah House Inc. USA, to further her understanding of the teachings. On completion of that course, Myra purchased the teaching videos, and on her return to Australia, presented a school in Brisbane in 1991. John and Paula Sandford visited this initial course, held at the Mercy Centre at Bardon and were delighted with what they saw.

Later that same year, Myra travelled to the USA to attend the very first Elijah House Advanced School. At the conclusion of this course, the Sandfords asked Myra to return home and establish Elijah House Australia.

With Clif's encouragement, financial support and blessing, Elijah House Australia was established.
